Marrakech, in the heart of Morocco, is rich in history. Its legendary maze-like souks in the medina, narrow lanes filled with colorful textiles, spices, and handicrafts, show its history. One square in Marrakech, a UNESCO World Heritage site, pulses with the liveliest scene by night: Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, full of street performers, food vendors, and stalls, holds perhaps Marrakech’s vibration, its very essence. The oldest and most famous landmark is the Koutoubia Mosque, accompanied by a very special minaret. The Saadian Tombs date from the 16th century.
